Rarely saw any of my brother's "Care Team" during his stay at Handmaker's. He did improve significantly with the OT, PT Services he did receive while he was at Handmaker's. One nurse was very attentive and helpful, K.C. Thank you for your help. The food rated a 2 out of 5. Some of the items served at mealtime were mediocre at best. Much better food at the 4 places my brother was staying prior to Handmaker's. So much easier, more accessible staff, with a feeling of medical attention. Hopefully, his Care Home will own up to their reputation.

My mom had a very poor experience there. She came after a stroke and was supposed to get physical and speech therapy. She didn't receive speech therapy until Day 12. She was discharged the next day. She had symptoms of recurring UTI and was never retested despite nurses saying she would be. She was taken to primary care doctor the next day to get care she should have received at handmaker and to get a speech therapy referral.

This place is a joke and needs to get shut down my mom came here from hospital for rehabilitation for a broken femur and was treated badly the dr never came to see here in her room. When I found out that they received an out dated med list they refused to fix it they kept her heavily medicated to the point she was unable to due physical therapy also stated she was refusing to due physical therapy how can you do physical therapy? When you can't even stay awake or even walk, because you're so heavily sedated. Then, one of the nurses had the audacity to insult her and belittle her by saying, oh, so you're incontinent now too. They are understaffed, always shorthanded. I've had my mom call me. Several different times throughout her stay there, crying to me saying they were forcing her to take meds. She didn't even know why she was taking when she asked why she had to be on those meds, they never gave her an answer. No one would give me an answer. And she's got in stage liver disease. And when I tried to get her medlist updated, I kept getting the run around, and they still kept trying to force her to take the same amount of meds that were causing her to severely decline. And I had to come down there at an emergency situation and get her out since she's been home. She has gotten better. Her memory's coming back, but she has suffered severe emotional distress from the lack of empathy and care. She received. And I have filed a report and going after them. So this does not happen to anybody else.

Care quality ???? Where do I start? Well mother-in -law 91 years old left wet because they are not changing her diaper. She is not being watched to take Her pills,,,, not being watched cause a pill found on the floor. Nurse RESPONCE she must be spitting them out. Hmmmm (must be) so not watching. Hearing aid lost …. Oh wait not lost cause it was found by nurse under her butt when her daughter showed up and oh now it’s time to change her diaper. Should I go on. Make sure she gets her medication (you will have a better time with this patient!! Her room wreaking with the smell of urine is a sign of not being taken care of.

Staffing sup needs to be reported, short staffed, resulting in resident neglect. I've been here almost a year and when they moved Mei had made them aware I had sprayed my ankle before being transferred and now all my rehab progress has been reversed. Trying hardest to fall into depression and feel like they're not trying to keep me wheelchair bound. But itseems they just want your money. The staff is quitting left and right very sad place to be

Overall, we had a good experience with Handmaker. The nursing staff and therapy teams were attentive, caring, and clearly committed to patient well-being. The facility itself was clean, and most of the staff we interacted with were professional and supportive during a difficult time for our family. That said, the one area that needs improvement is communication from the social worker/case management side. We were not kept properly informed about important Medicare details, specifically when coverage for services was ending and how to appeal the discharge decision. This lack of communication made it difficult for us to plan and advocate effectively. Additionally, when we made the decision to keep our dad at the facility under self-pay, we clearly requested that his physical and occupational therapy continue. Unfortunately, this information was not communicated to the therapy department. As a result, he went approximately 2 1/2 weeks without PT/OT, which negatively impacted his recovery process. While our overall experience was positive, better coordination and communication between case management and other departments, especially regarding coverage transitions and therapy continuity, would make a significant difference for families navigating these situations.

My aunt received care at Handmaker. The staff were attentive to her needs during her stay and treated her with dignity and respect. I appreciated the communication and support provided during a difficult time for our family. Thank you to everyone at Handmaker for the care you provide to your residents and patients.

So far it's been great I only got here one day ago and the first thing they did was give me a shower it was awesome their physical therapist in occupational therapy with second to none it was great they really got me up and moving all their staff was very caring and kind and understanding I felt very safe and welcome the food was great very home style very good and they always want to make sure that you you not hungry great place to go safe and homie

They were very helpful, and my GMA seemed to love the place a lot. Excellent job

I am a retired Health Care worker. I was a Lab Manager for years. I know how important it is have good communication with Care givers. Mary has been outstanding in keeping me informed of my cousin ( he is like a brother). I appreciate her information. I cannot be more positive about her. Joyce Sabol

The facility and staff was amazing. I had no worries while my family member was being taken care of at the facility. The physical therapy staff was amazing as well. My nana was strong and knew how to adapt to life after surgery with the help of the staff. After being discharged they continued with checking in with her and if anything was needed they would assist

Great place and great people, Mary took really good care of my dad while he was there, and even followed up after he left to make sure he was doing ok, he met very nice employees and residents during his stay, I’m very grateful.

Most comfortable place for people of any faiths the presence of God is very well at the facility. The staff were always polite and took great care of me. Great safe place
