I had a deeply disappointing experience with LA Jewish Health. In early September, they accepted my father’s application and placed him on a waitlist. They told us it would be about six months—maybe up to nine—before a bed would be available, but every time I followed up, they kept saying a bed just wasn’t ready yet. Then, about two or three weeks ago, I was finally told he was at the top of the waiting list and should be admitted soon. But a few days ago, they called me out of the blue to say he would not be accepted at all. They gave no explanation, even though he had already been on the waitlist. This entire process, with all the back-and-forth, left us feeling completely blindsided and unsupported. If we knew they would do this to us, we wouldnt have waited at all and got him to a different facility we had in mind 9 months ago.

Recently I was in need of a short term rehab facility. It was interesting to see how many of the short term rehab facilities had horrible ratings (1 on a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being the best). This was from a Medicare database, by the way. I chose a facility that had a religious affiliation other than my own because of its reputation and reviews. There are few wonderful places in this city for rehab. Not knowing if it is appropriate or not to use names on this review I will refrain for now. Please know that the nursing staff on all levels were efficient, kind and caring. The physical therapy staff were very well trained and because of them I made great strides quickly with my healing. The occupational therapy staff were also very well trained. They coordinated training with the PT department and they seemed to have a database that kept everything streamlined so that everyone was on the same page for moving me forward toward returning home. There was what I referred to as a social director who provided daily events so people had the choice to not be isolated. Bingo, entertainers who provided music for everyone, pet owners who brought in their dogs, visits with their spiritual advisor if you chose, etc. A woman would come to our rooms to remind us of whatever events they had going on to keep up our spirits. I had not played bingo or crocheted for many years. There was a great variety of other events as well. To be able to get out of the room and be social with others was truly a great part of my healing. The nutritionist met with me soon after my arrival to see what food allergies I might have and what foods I did or did not eat. They were very careful to make sure that my meals met my needs as well as being good food. I would like to add that this place was cleaned regularly. The gentleman who was, as far as I could tell, in charge of the building I was in, kept the place spotless. After residents left the facility he was like a whirlwind of cleaning like I have never seen before. I watched how hard and how fast this staff moved to make sure everyone was taken care of. Did I have short waits sometimes? Of course, but as soon as someone could get to me they had a warm smile and they were on top of things. The Grancell Village Campus of Los Angeles Jewish Health provided the kindest staff I have ever dealt with. After close to 4 weeks I returned home in much better shape than when I arrived. I would recommend this place with no hesitation.

Nice and a beautiful and quiet place to take care of our family members

I felt like the luckiest daughter in the world, that JEK Medical Center accepted my mom and my stepdad together, cared for them with their very complex difficult situations until the end two years ago. Before they were in JEK Medical Center, they were greatly at risk living on their own in LA, which greatly heightened my caregiving duties and anxiety related health issues. THE JEWISH HOME GAVE MY PARENTS THE DIGNITY AND CARE THEY NEEDED AND GAVE ME BACK A LIFE TO HAVE WITH MY PARENTS. THEY ARE FOREVER IN MY GRATITUDE.

I just spent 3 weeks in rehab for a knee replacement and I cannot say enough good. The therapists were excellent and because of there excellent work, I am walking after 4 weeks. Each and every CNA, LVN were caring and responsive. The only reason they did not get a 5 is because the food was really awful-- I was told it was because it was kosher..,lame excuse.

My father stayed at the Taper Building at the Los Angeles Jewish Home for rehabilitation, and I can’t express enough how grateful we are for the care he received. After touring other homes it was quite apparent that this was the winner. From the moment he arrived, the staff treated him with kindness, patience, and professionalism. The nurses, aides, and therapists were not only attentive to his medical needs but also incredibly supportive emotionally, helping him feel comfortable and dignified throughout his stay. A big shout out and thank you to Dashi, Ruth, Jared, Boomie, Ed, Elba, Jeanine and so many other wonderful staff. The care was next level and appreciated beyond belief. The facility itself is well-maintained, clean, and welcoming. It definitely gave us peace of mind knowing that he was in such capable hands. Thank you to everyone at the Taper Building for helping my father throughout this difficult time. You truly made a difficult time easier for our whole family.

Sheri Goldin with the Organizing Jewish Health Association is truly an angel. She helped me navigate care for my 80-year-old mother with incredible kindness, professionalism, and follow-through. She walked us through every step and made a stressful process feel seamless. Her support has been a lifeline during a very difficult time. If you need help caring for a senior loved one, I can’t recommend her enough.

My husband spent his last few years here. He loved and appreciated the superb care. He always told me that their food was delicious and he had 4 different attendants throughout the day.

My husband recovered through their rehab 5 years ago after broken ribs and is recovering there now after hip surgery. We are both extremely pleased with the nurses, the facility and the physical therapy. We consider it to be the best available in the valley. We feel very fortunate that they had an opening! Thank you JHA!

My family member was placed in this facility. The lack of staff and attention to detail is disappointing. When a family member complained they were disrespected and told to find another place if not happy. How disgusting the treatment of seniors is. This facility makes so much money I believe the investors are the only ones happy and care for.

I’m 83 years old and fell resulting in a hip fracture. I did my recovery here at the JEK building and had a wonderful experience. My daughter toured 8 other skilled nursing facilities in the area and she choose JHA for me. We feel so lucky they had a spot for me. The nursing staff is outstanding. I’ve gotten some of the best PT and OT I’ve ever had. The food is delicious and thoughtfully prepared. My family and I were so overwhelmed, worried and caught off guard by my fall. When she found JHA she could relax. They explained everything, we’re very reassuring and supportive. It was just what we all needed. You cannot go wrong choosing this place for your recovery.

Someone here just rated this place and said the lack of staff is horrifying and it is very very true there's not enough time I need more time and it won't give me time to get my paperwork done I go there once a week to take a shower that's disgusting I need a shower more than once a week they're low on staff they need more people this shouldn't be like this all they're interested is in for themselves they don't care about the people here

My mother lived here starting in independent living in 2014 up until she passed in 2018 at age 95. Each level of care was wonderful. I have zero complaints and we never had a problem. My mom considered this home.

It's about as good as it gets. Not perfect but they do a pretty good job. Some very caring CNAs, excellent rehab and good food. My mother was there for about a month recovering from hip fracture. My only complaint was that they didn't …
