This school operates with disdain and lack of regard for the surrounding community. I’m a neighbor who needs to bike my kid to school on this street every morning, and I regularly have to navigate double parked unattended cars on both sides/directions of the street, as well as multiple illegal U-turns in both directions on top of that. I have called and relayed my concerns to the school multiple times, unfortunately they have done nothing. Other more enlightened schools in this city have staff outside directing traffic and even helping to expedite the drop off process by getting kids out of the cars and into the school. Beth Shalom on the other hand has the budget to keep armed security out front, but seems unwilling to do anything to protect the safety of other members of the neighborhood community who are put at risk by the selfish, negligent and unlawful behavior of the school’s parents and drop-off traffic.

I was on the 38 bus going home, overheard elderly lady looking for this synagogue, I offered to walk her since I live nearby, we had a great walk and she demanded that I go in with her to this building and see what it's about. So we walked in and introduced ourselves, everybody was nice and I walk the lady to her seat inside, I promise the lady that I was going to come back after I went home to drop off my backpack. About 20 minutes later I walked back in looking for the lady but what I'm finding out is these people are trying to get money out of me and I haven't even been here for more than 10 minutes, whoever the greeter was started talking to me about memberships that they offer, I literally thought I was in YMCA a few blocks away because it felt like a gym in terms of people pressure in your into spending money. This is a very shady place and I don't recommend anybody coming here. Edit: this happened in 2019 and sorry if it sounds like that but nobody asked me for money, they just started talking about memberships but even though I'm Jewish and I live two blocks away, this was my first time visiting and I didn't even get inside yet and that is why I said that I felt like this is a gym.
