Shwayder has been a life changing experience for me and my kids. I was able to go there as a child and now feel so lucky to get to send my own kids there. It is a place of love and peace. I have made my best friends in life there and love getting to watch the next generation form their own unique experience of the Schwader magic
I love the beauty, community, authenticity and traditional spirit of Shawyder. The people are genuine and the experience is truly amazing. I would recommend Shwayder over and over again to anyone!
Shwayder is a wonderful community in the mountains. Detailed programming, beautiful nature, and caring counselors create a foundation for positive experiences for children of all ages.
This place changed my life. Truly the beauty of Shwayder is only the beginning. The people and the community last a lifetime. Shwayder helped me find my friends, my career, my Judaism.
My children began attending Shwayder at age 7 and are now counselors in training and counselors at ages 15 and 18. Shwayder has been an incredible part of their summers, their friendships and their identities. Shwayder has also supported their mental and physical health. They wouldn’t be the amazing people they are without Shwayder and we are grateful!
I have been attending Shwayder camp every summer since I was 10 years old. After being a camper for 5 years, a Staff in training for 1 year, and then finally a Counselor for 2 years, I can confidently say Shwayder is my home away from home. Through multiple switches in camp directors, this camp has never lost its magic. Growing up jewish can feel isolating and scary. Shwayder gave me friends and a place to not just practice our Judaism, but have a place to fall in love and be proud of our Judaism. I have made more lifelong friends than I can count, ones who I know will be at my wedding and will meet my kids. No, Shwayder isn't perfect on paper, technically, but to hundreds of people, Shwayder is a sanctuary. This has been true since the opening of this camp, thanks to the incredible people and location. Shwayder is always changing and improving, ready to hear suggestions, but will never lose the magic that keeps me going back every year. Shwayder is the only place you can dance till your drop, enjoy the outdoors, try new things, and celebrate your Judaism in such a short and unique time of your summer.
Shwayder is a horrible experience. It seems like it is fun at the begging and when you see their introduction. I attended this camp for one two-week session and very much hated it. The food was horrible, councilors were horrible and we had to spend a full day sitting around at a school 20 miles away due to an evacuation. Not only that but the programming was bad. I hated the Shabbat service and disliked their way of doing it. So overall I would rate the camp zero stars if I could.
