Berman Commons.

Berman is a wonderful community with compassionate staff. Tara and Mulu stand out as examples of knowledgeable experts who used their experience and quick thinking to quite possibly have saved my Moms life. (Elizabeth). I can’t recommend them highly enough

Tara and Mulu are wonderful examples of compassionate and knowledgeable caregivers who using their experience and critical thinking skills had the foresight and take action when my Mom (Elizabeth) got critically ill. Their expertise saved her life. We are continually impressed by the staff and community at Berman and can’t recommend it enough.

I took mom to many places, both in Atlanta and South Fl where she lived. She chose Berman Commons. Initially it was not my first pick, but by the time mom was ready to go, they had completely updated the facility. To say that it is gorgeous does not do it justice! It does not feel stuffy or stiff at all though. It is just absolutely beautiful. At night it is incredibly peaceful and quiet and the lighting makes it feel almost magical. The apartments are significantly larger than any others we saw. It even has a HUGE walk in closet!! They will move or add shelves as you need (my mom is unusually tiny in stature). Which brings me to the staff: I am not even sure I can put into words the gratitude I have for the Executive Director Lisa Miner!!!!! She is an angel from God- I am sure of it! There is not another human more beautiful and caring and accessible than Lisa. If there is ever a staff member who does not appear to love and appreciate their job, or who is not a good fit, they are just gone and replaced with people who genuinely seem to care. The residents can be difficult (we get to be that way when we get to like 102!!!) but somehow the staff show up and do whatever it takes to be helpful and make the residents feel safe and cared for. It is small enough so they know all the residents by name and their stories. The food was not great when mom first got there, but Lisa got a new cook and now it is delicious! I can not say enough good about Berman Commons if you have a loved one who is in need of assisted living or memory care. I have been on the memory care ward several times and was surprised to see how wonderful the staff were with these folks as well. They do not just sit around- and the staff know them all! Update: I can hardly believe I failed to mention Tara! Tara is Director of Nursing. That said, there is nothing she will not do to help a resident, including endlessly searching for mom's lost keys! She and Lisa have worked together elsewhere for years. They are seriously the dynamic duo!!! P.s.s. To say food delicious may be a little too generous. That was first week of new chef:) Definitely days that it is really good; others meh... hard cook for that many people but they do good job trying to accomodate and know all residents and their preferences

Every time I visit I come away even more impressed with the people, their sincerity, and kindness.

My 90yr old mom is thriving at Berman Commons! Everyone from Executive Director, Lisa, Activities Director JJ, employee Mullah, her son Gabe whose part of the attentive wait staff (as well as everyone involved in activities, nursing, aids, dining, etc) has treated our Mom with highly personalized care, kindness, compassion, patience, and dignity. Unlike other communities we looked at, Berman Commons offers an abundance of weekly interactive activities and entertainment (visiting alpacas! all varieties of live music, curated birthday parties!) to keep her engaged and happy. Also, They are highly communicative with my sister and myself and are quick to address any questions and concerns. Fellow residents are absolutely lovely and mom has made wonderful friends, both single and couples. All in all, the superstar Berman Commons team has created a warm and welcoming community. Apartment is light and airy with high ceilings and a beautiful view. We, and most importantly, our mother, could NOT be more thrilled!

My mother spent her last few months here. She received the most incredible care from the staff and Eckstein. I highly recommend Berman Commons to any family. Your loved one will always have the best of care.

My experience has been wonderful. Berman is a very cozy facility with a wonderful activities staff providing lots of musical experiences and other activities. The leadership is exceptional, particularly from the Director, Lisa Minor, who is very present, involved, and attentive to both the residents and families. The care staff also provides good care. I would highly recommend Berman Commons.

Berman Commons has been wonderful for both Yale and myself. Lisa, Tara, Mellissa go above and. Beyond to make everything run smoothly.

We recently moved my Mother-in-Law (90) and her sister (98) into Berman Commons and we cannot express how much we appreciate the experience. It is stressful to make a move like this and the staff at Berman Commons made it so much less so. Lisa, Sam and their amazing team of staff and caregivers could not have been more helpful and accommodating. I find it remarkable that Lisa knows all the residents by name and watches over everything this a loving gaze.

Eskinder Beyene is a care taker who has become a treasured friend of the family. He looks out for my Father and all of the residents with great love and care. I am so grateful for him. Berman Commons has many great employees like this. It is a wonderful place!

My dad has been at Berman Commons for a year now and I couldn’t be happier with the care he’s receiving. The staff is kind attentive and truly treats him like family. The building is clean and welcoming, the food is great, and there are always activities to keep residents engaged. He’s made friends, enjoys the community, and most importantly, he feels at home. Having the peace of mind that he’s safe and happy means the world to our family. Highly recommend Berman Commons!

Lisa Miner, the Executive Director, has done a fabulous job with this facility. The entire staff is caring and personable with my 101 year old mother. Absolutely, I know my mother is receiving the best care available in the Atlanta area.

My husband has been in the memory unit of Berman Commons for almost four months and I cannot speak highly enough about the care he is receiving. From the executive office down to each of the caregivers, they are so caring and helpful, not only to the resident, but to our entire family. I can’t think of anywhere I would rather have him to help us through this painful time in our lives. We feel so fortunate that they had a space for him.

My partner, Michael D, was a resident at Berman Commons for just a few short months before he passed away. The staff never failed to impress me with their kindness, thoughtfulness, and most importantly, their grace. As Michael was nearly the end of his life fighting glioblastoma, he was not always an easy person to care for. The staff went above and beyond to meet his needs and keep him comfortable. It's difficult to express how grateful I am to the caregivers, support staff, and management. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I attended the anniversary and Purim party last Thursday. The staff and residents were all interacting in such a warm and familiar way that it really felt like a family atmosphere! There was great music and good food. We are so lucky to have this facility in our community and it is so wonderful to see our seniors legitimately having FUN!

Stay away from here, unless you are able to visit your loved one on a weekly basis!!!!! It has taken me over a year to get over my anger with Berman Commons to write about the truly awful treatment that my mother-in-law received at Berman Commons. Unfortunately, when I provided the honest details of her awful treatment my review was taken down. So I will once again try to warn families who do not live locally to the facility. The turnover of staff was absolutely ridiculous! A quick search of my emails shows me that there were at least 3 new executive director changes during the 5 years that our loved one was there. My mother-in-law, a Holocaust survivor, was treated so horrifically for the last year of her stay in Berman Commons. I was subjected to constant pressure and threats that she needed to be moved from her large one bedroom assisted living apartment and forced into a memory care bed. Berman Commons wanted to remove my mother-in-law from her large one bedroom apartment and move her into a bed in the memory care unit because they were consolidating residents from a nearby facility that was closing, and they needed her apartment to house a married couple who would pay more for her unit. Berman Commons wanted to move her into a memory care bed without a medical diagnosis of any kind of dementia. I was given an ultimatum (with a deadline date) for her to vacate her large one bedroom apartment- either leaving the facility or forcing her into a locked down unit of the memory care bed. We moved her out of state, to be closer to us and she was able to live the last months of her life in a beautiful facility, in a one bedroom assisted living apartment with a most caring and thoughtful staff who treated her with dignity and respect! She was seen by proper medical professionals who did not recommend a memory care unit for her, despite the inaccurate (and grossly false) statements that Berman Commons put in her patient file. On the day that I arrived in Berman Commons to move her out of state, I tried to pack a suitcase for her to have a few days of clothing before the movers arrived with all her belongings. I was unable to find any of the clothing that we had been sending to her, and we had to run out to buy pajamas and clothing for her to wear for the next few days and after! Berman Commons was so grossly negligent with their responsibilities towards my mother-in-law! Leaving Berman Commons was the single best thing that we did to ensure that our loved one! She was able to live out her final months in a facility that encouraged her independence, appreciated her life experiences, and treated her as an adult deserving of dignity and respect! Shame on Berman Commons, a Jewish facility, that treated a Holocaust survivor with neither compassion, understanding, or respect during her last year in their facility!!!!!!!

The staff at Berman Commons treated my dad as family. They looked after his well being, social interactions, and day-to-day needs better than any other senior facility. I owe so much gratitude to the Executive Director Lisa Minor and Health Director Tara Crane because they are simply amazing. They made the last eight years of my dad's life so enjoyable! If you are considering Berman Commons, and you get to meet Lisa and Tara, jump at the chance for them to help your mom or dad.
