Illinois Holocaust Museum Presents Experience360.

It was a really powerful experience and I have come out of it with a much deeper experience and understanding. I really liked the VR experience because it felt like you were stepping into the shoes of the survivors and how they felt during the war. Another part I liked seeing was the artifacts. The letters, photos and items of the survivors' childhoods and adulthoods gave new insights. One part that felt especially interesting was when we got to ask questions and hear the stories of the survivors. One person that we heard from was Sam Harris, a childhood survivor of the Holocaust. His story was really interesting, because we got to know about the conditions and what they went through during their time at the camps.

A lot of reading, only a few items from the Holocaust we’re displaying. Took 20 mins to go through.

Incredible museum with very knowledgeable docent. The VR and holographic experience with different survivors gave us the experience of walking in their shoes.

The exhibits were interesting, however we were sitting on a bench in front of a TV actively watching and listening and a tour came to the exhibit we were in and the lady asked us if we would stand so "the elderly could sit down". I would have been more than happy to allow any elders to sit down but I found it extremely rude to be interrupted and asked to stand by a worker. The ladies who are doing the tours need to be aware of their volume and be respectful to those who are on a self guided tour. They talk extremely loud and their voice carries. There were a couple guides and the ladies talking were very loud and would walk in front of you and expect you to move. It was very socially awkward interactions mixing the tours and public. I did have a good experience watching the movie. The lady in there talked very soft and was very helpful and informative after the movie was over.

As I understand, this is sort of an annex to the museum in Skokie. Visitors have the opportunity for a virtual visit to Auschwitz and a conversation with a survivor. There were a few school groups there when I visited, and they seemed to be interested.

I spent a quiet afternoon watching the holographic interviews and then stepped into the VR corridor where a survivor’s voice guided me through the streets of pre‑war Warsaw—felt like standing in history itself. The guide who stayed with us was patient, answering questions with genuine empathy, and the museum’s layout kept the heavy subject matter approachable. I left with a deeper understanding, a sense of respect, and a plan to bring my daughter back for the interactive theater.

Didn’t know what to expect—especially after visiting Holocaust museums in New York and D.C.—but this Experience360 in Chicago was incredibly powerful. The interactive survivor discussion and the 3D “walk through history” made it deeply personal and unforgettable. It’s emotional, eye-opening, and something everyone should experience at least once. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Two thumbs up—especially important for students to see and understand.
