awkwardly rude young staff at check out but has beer and food when you need it and open on holidays when you need it
Love this old school grocery store! Nice meats. Great wine selections!
Somewhat expensive
Snyder's is a throwback to what supermarkets used to be. I love to patronize this store, the deli selection is fantastic with Boar's Head meats, and they have a lot of small specialty items that are hard to resist. The produce section is also excellent for its small size. It seems like every time I go there I see someone that I know.
Handy store but have to agree with the reviewer who notes the untidy surroundings. They could clean things up quite a bit and make the area more welcoming. This is by far the rattiest stretch in Silver Spring.
Like all the small retail outlets in this little strip mall area, Snider's has failed to take any pride in upkeep. It's a ratty little piece of turf. Weeds, trash and bad smells abound. It would take little effort to keep the outside area tidy, yet none of the local owners or lease holders bother. Inside, Snider's remains a great place to pop in and pick up a quick few items but it's too pricey and too poorly stocked for a regular full shop. Despite a nearly 100% turnover in staff a few years back, the checkout and stock clerks remain helpful, efficient and cheerful. There's no place quicker to get in and out of. Parking is easy.
This is my go to store. Fresh veggies, meat and fish. Wonderful deli. Sniders is not cheap though. I'm still there once or twice a week but I'm buying less - sticking to the basics and not trying new foods like I did before. Customer service is always great. There are changes since new ownership but that's life right? Enjoy small town feel. (My big store for ready made and more variety when needed is Wegmans - also not cheap unless you stick to the specials.)
BETTER THAN “ALDI”
This store is large enough to serve you but small enough to know you. It has everything you need.
1 helpful voteOnce a great neighborhood grocery store, under new management Snider's tries to be all things to all people, and for me, at least, it fails. I try to buy Fritos for instance (now called "Original"), I might find BBQ Fritos, or Garlic Flavored Fritos, or Vanilla Pineapple Fritos (I exaggerate only mildly), but Original Fritos--"Oh, maybe next week." Or I want a bagel--which used to be kept in an end counter, in labeled bins--sesame, plain, whole wheat, etc. Now they are individually wrapped, unlabeled, and stacked together. Think you're buying pumpernickel? Good luck. When you get home you might find that it is a "raspberry infused pumpernickel." Or want cinnamon raisin? Maybe you'll be lucky, or maybe you'll find when you get home that you've bought a chocolate chip baget. Yuch! Even when I've asked management for help, I've been surprised when I got home. Who would have thought that garlic flavoring had been added!? Very sad. I now must go tor Giant to get the basics or Whole Foods to get fine foods.
Best meats in the DMV.
We shop at Sniders and also have them make us fresh sandwiches in the Deli. The employees are always friendly and accommodating!
Great neighborhood grocery, the staff is awesome and the variety and selection is just fabulous, particularly for a store of this size. Produce is always A+++
On their voice mail they say they are located in Silver Springs with a S at the end! Wow! Major oversight! Overall decent grocery . Declined a bit when it was sold a few years ago.
