Dear City of Boston, I would like to understand how you justify allowing multiple gravesites to remain in this condition. I traveled from another state to visit my mother and brother, who are buried here, only to find that I couldn't even see their headstones because the grass and weeds had been allowed to grow so high. When I went to the administration building to report the issue, I was told that the grounds crew had already gone home for the day. This level of overgrowth did not happen overnight. It reflects weeks, if not months, of neglected maintenance. This is unacceptable and deeply disrespectful to the families who come to honor their loved ones. I expect an explanation for how this occurred, what steps will be taken to address it immediately, and what measures will be put in place to ensure this does not happen again. Families deserve better!

I think the grounds could be better kept. I recently went to a funeral and the burial site in the Mattapan area. I couldn't help but compare. Where is the thick. green grass nicely mowed???

Have been visiting this cemetery for over 40 years and have always been impressed with how well the property was maintained, until today. The grass had not been cut for at least two weeks, there was trash blowing all over the place and weeds were everywhere. It looked awful. Definitely an embarrassment for the city of Boston.

Today my family and I went to the Ukrainian section of Mt. Hope Cemetery as we do several times a year. We were quite disappointed at how shabby the area looked. There were lots of weeds, unmowed grass, a few pieces of paper and some empty bottles. On the other hand, since it was Memorial Day, the small flags were placed in those areas reserved for the military. The grass was cut, and everything else was as neat as a pin. Perhaps the landscapers who took such great care of THESE graves and areas, with heavy viewing on a day such as today, should pay closer attention to their work in those sections where foot travel isn't so extensive. Perhaps the next time I pay a visit, the area will look much more cared for.

Super disappointed!!!!. Went to my great grandmothers grave and planted some plants and bulbs 2 weeks ago. Went back today to water them only to find that my plants were ripped out of the ground and missing and all of my bulbs had been weed wacked or mowed to nubs about an inch tall. Too lazy to go around them? Heart breaking!! No respect!!!!!. Hope someone treats they're deceased loved ones with more respect than mine were treated.

My siblings and I made a trip from Florida not knowing where exactly our dad was buried. Prior to heading up here I had made contact with the office and at that time a lady was helpful and providing me with the information needed. So on July 5th we made our journey to Boston and at this time Paul Harris (cemetery foreman) was extremely helpful and took us right to the grave
