Great facilities. Nice staff. Very clean. Only problem is some members have no common courtesy, or act like they are at muscle beach slamming weights down. People, if you are so important you can't get off your phone, probably shouldn't be at the gym.

I love the JCC. I'm there 5 days a week in the summer for water aerobics. Plus twice a week for Mahjong. I also attend book readings and other presentations. It's a great community, excellent staff and there are awesome amenities.

I recently learned that JCC summer camp leader Matt Westerlund and others were pushed out of the JCC organization. The new CEO was on a mission to remove him. The motivations are highly questionable and should be investigated and scrutinized. It clearly wasn't performance related. Under his leadership the camp has been a huge success. In their own words just a few months ago: "Matt's passion for creating a safe, fun, and welcoming environment has helped shape the camp experience for countless children and families over the years. His leadership continues to inspire campers to build confidence, form friendships, embrace new adventures, and learn values that last long after summer ends." If you are a parent, camper, counsellor, or are familiar with the Matt and the program. Please share your thoughts.

Response from the organization

3 weeks ago Thank you for sharing your concerns. While we don't believe it's appropriate to comment on personnel matters, we can clarify that no one was terminated. We stand by the statement we shared publicly, which reflects our genuine appreciation for Matt's years of service, leadership, and the many contributions he made to our Camp Chai community.

We went to the Sampson Challenge and everything was done so well.

There was a sign on the door to wait 15 mins for the worker to return. Waited 30mins. Bagel was hard, chewy, stale, odd flavor and i was truly incredibly disappointed.

Response from the organization

10 months ago Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're sorry to hear about your disappointing experience. We want to clarify that Ruthie's Bagels operates as an independent business within our community center space - they manage their own operations, staffing, and food quality. While we can't control their service standards, we absolutely want our visitors to have positive experiences in our facility. We'd encourage you to reach out to Ruthie's Bagels directly with your concerns about the wait time and food quality, as they would be best positioned to address these issues. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and hope you'll consider visiting our community center again for our programs and events.

The basketball league needs to be revamped. It’s supposed to be for recreation and fun. They have two officials, reffing the game, it’s not even close to a recreational size court. They are calling lane violations and 5 seconds calls, over calling the game. We can’t get a flow. They should be calling hard fouls and obvious violations. We’re trying to get some run in not watch guys shoot 20 free throws. It turns into frustration and no fun. There should be minimal calls to even argue. The lady running it turns argumentative really easy.

Response from the organization

a year ago Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're truly sorry to hear that your experience with the basketball league didn’t meet your expectations. We always strive to provide a welcoming and enjoyable environment for all participants, whether they're here for fitness, fun, or friendly competition. The JCC hosts hundreds of events, classes, and activities designed to serve our community, and we hope this one experience won’t define your impression of all that we do. We appreciate your perspective and your participation. — The JCC Team
